wherewaters traces tap water backwards. Look up any address to find the public water system that serves it, from EPA's map of community water system service areas, and whether that utility buys its water wholesale from another.
For each source, a river intake, reservoir, lake or well field, the map shows the watershed that drains to it and the rivers flowing in. Live readings show how full reservoirs are compared with a year ago, river flow at USGS stream gauges against normal for the date, snowpack upstream from SNOTEL sensors, and groundwater depth at nearby wells. The panel also covers treatment plants, disinfectant, fluoride and hardness, EPA drinking water violations from the last ten years, lead test results, and where your water goes after the drain.
